As most of you know, Halloween is an extremely sacred holiday in my life (a.k.a. I’m already planning my costumes for next year), and I am very meticulous about the characters I choose, as well as how I portray them (*all while being a broke b*tch on a budget lol :p ).
This Halloween I needed to be EXTRA frugal, so I wanted to be someone that wouldn’t require me to buy a ton of expensive pieces– when in doubt, always go with a classic…
Since my normal wardrobe is essentially a culmination of various “femme fatale”/ “queen of darkness” looks, Morticia Addams was a no-brainer. The only things I needed to buy in order to complete her look were lace opera glove sleeves, and white body makeup!
And I don’t know about you, but I personally feel that Halloween costumes are always more fun if you have a partner (or group) in crime to do a themed costume with. Thankfully, my best friend was willing to take a break from her normally sunny disposition and step over to the darker side of life with me for a night as my “daughter,” Wednesday Addams (she made that collar herself out of felt and pipe cleaners– HOW F*CKING AWESOME IS THAT?!).
We spent the evening being misunderstood, dark-minded weirdos who didn’t give a damn about what anyone thought of us (so basically our real selves, only paler :p ), and it was absolutely TO DIE FOR.
Additionally, I always like to stay in costume for my neighborhood’s Trick-Or-Treaters, so Morticia became quite acclimated in the suburbs for a couple hours as she passed out candy bars to cheerful, smiling, rosy-cheeked children in desperate need of Wednesday’s gloomy guidance.
Overall, I’d say this Halloween was a success (*snap snap)!
